You are in: News>FAQs>Radiant heating Why does wall heating provide more radiant heating than underfloor heating?Something that many people do not know about before investing in underfloor heating is that it works to a great extent as a form of convection heating. In barefoot areas such as the bathroom it is ideal, but in all areas where people work (standing or sitting) or spend a lot of time it can have negative effects (incorrect design can lead to vein problems).Radiation always operates at right angles to the surface which emits the warmth. There is only a small contact area for radiant heating exchange between the human body and the floor. Warm wall surfaces actually work as radiant heating, because they cover a large percentage of the human body. This means that the ambient temperature can be kept lower and the air temperature in the ceiling area tends to be lower, which results in less heat loss.
