Living in the Baptistery

The baptismal chapel in the idyllic Waldhausen in Upper Austria was completed in 1697 and served for many years for the sacrament of admission into the Christian community. In the course of the dissolution of the Waldhausen Abbey in 1792, it was acquired by the municipality and converted into a "sick station" for lepers – fortunately, it never had to be used. Forty-five years ago, a local family purchased the chapel and has lived in it ever since.

The living spaces were previously heated using convection heat through radiators. As part of a heating renovation, the radiators on the upper floor were removed and replaced with energy-saving underfloor heating. Soothing radiant heat now ensures a pleasant room climate in the living and sleeping areas. The old gas boiler is also no longer needed, as an air heat pump now provides the necessary energy.

Due to the rapid installation times, the builder opted for the underfloor heating in drywall construction with only 20 mm installation height. The specially milled studded panels, with a pipe spacing of 10 cm, were laid over the entire surface. This allows the floor to be heated evenly across the entire area. The VarioComp filling compound ensures optimal heat transfer to the surface. Depending on the drying process, the floor covering can be applied as early as 24 hours after the VarioComp filling compound is applied.
