When the conservatory becomes living space

The conservatory in a single-family house in Schwanenstadt, Upper Austria, was poorly insulated and only served to overwinter plants. Wind and cold penetrated, and even the new radiators could not reduce the high humidity in the room. The 35-year-old conservatory was to be completely renovated. The existing glazing was replaced with floor-to-ceiling triple-glazed window surfaces, creating a beautiful view outside and flooding the room with light. An insulated floor and ceiling structure ensure a perfectly insulated room. 

The cold stays outside

The radiators were removed, and a Variotherm floor channel heating system was installed directly in front of the large window surfaces. The underfloor convector is discreetly integrated into the floor. It shields the cold from outside and prevents the formation of condensation on the glass surfaces, making the 26 m² room comfortably warm.

The total of 14.42 meters of trench heating system was precisely cut and installed flush with the flooring. The trays and the grille of the floor convector were mitered for the 90° corners, and the trench heating system was prepared for connection with pre-assembled valves in the Variotherm production halls. The connection of the two heating elements was made using the Variotherm flexible bends. The customer chose anodized roll-up grilles in black as a cover. They protect the heating elements, can be removed at any time, and are easy to clean.

With the new trench heating system, the conservatory can now be well-heated and used all year round.
