Super slim.

The 20 millimeter solution.

Continuously save energy.

A floor heating is a low temperature system. This means: The heating pipes are laid over the entire floor area. The system can operate with low flow temperatures. Depending on the outside temperature, it is sufficient to heat the water to 26 to 38 °C. In comparison, conventional radiators require a flow temperature of up to 60 °C. The reason: Due to their small surface area, they only release heat to the room at specific points.

Reduce heating costs.

A floor heating is a low temperature system. This means: The heating pipes are laid over the entire floor area.

The radiant heat also reduces heating costs: The room air temperature can be lowered by up to 2 °C compared to convection heating. And we still feel comfortable.
Every degree lowered in the room saves about 6% heating costs per year.

Quickly up to temperature.

The floor heating in drywall construction is very responsive. With its low construction height of 20 mm, the heating pipes are close to the floor covering. This means: the floor heats up quickly.

Thus, the VarioComp Modular Floor Heating is very well suited for rapidly changing room air temperatures (e.g.: large glass surfaces, many people in a room, fireplaces, kitchens, etc.).

The room remains cozily warm – and that at lower flow temperatures.

Due to the short reaction times of the VarioComp, the room air temperature can be better regulated with a room thermostat than with a screed floor heating.

Equip individual rooms with floor heating.

A bathroom renovation is coming up. Why not also replace the heating system?

You can also install the floor heating in drywall construction in individual rooms. Therefore: Old radiators out, floor heating in! The Pumped VarioManifold or the Pump Microstation connects the new low-temperature floor heating with the existing high-temperature heating system.

Dry screed

The VarioComp Modular Floor Heating is an efficient complete system in which the VarioProFile Pipe is embedded in the VarioComp filling compound. All components of the complete system are perfectly coordinated. Everything works together perfectly. Down to the smallest detail.

THE VARIOCOMP BOARD

For heating floors

Pipe spacing: 100 mm Board size: 1000 x 600 mm

The VarioComp board is an ecologically tested gypsum fiberboard and is only 18 mm thin. The pre-milled knobs at a laying distance of 100 mm allow for easy and flexible installation of the VarioProFile Pipe 11.6x1.5 (aluminium multi-layer composite pipe).

The board is purely a pipe carrier and heat conducting element. Thus, the gypsum fiberboard is part of the floor covering and should not be seen as a structural part of the floor construction.

Because: Static requirements, thermal insulation, impact sound insulation, and diffusion protection against moisture must already be present under the VarioComp board in the construction.

THE VARIOPROFILE PIPE 11.6 x 1.5

The VarioProFile Pipe 11.6 x 1.5 utilizes the advantages of aluminum and plastic. Five layers are connected, making the pipe easily bendable and dimensionally stable. The innermost layer of the pipe is made of polyethylene and is temperature resistant. The mirror-smooth surface prevents deposits, allowing water to flow freely with minimal pressure loss through the pipe. The profiled surface structure increases the outermost layer of the pipe by up to 10%.

A larger surface area means optimized heat transfer.

The VarioComp filling compound

Special Filling Compound

The VarioComp filling compound fills the space between the installed CompactPlates and the inserted VarioProFile Pipe 11.6x1.5 Laser (aluminum multi-layer composite pipe).

This keeps the floor heating free from air pockets, allowing the heat to penetrate the surface unhindered. The filling compound has high thermal conductivity and transports the heat to the floor surface in no time.

The VarioComp filling compound is optimally mixed with the compact mixer. The bucket set guarantees the correct mixing ratio: it consists of a water bucket for the correct dosage and the 30 L bucket for mixing the VarioComp filling compound.

The filling compound is applied to the CompactPlates and smoothed with the scraper. Once the compound has dried, the floor covering can be applied.

XPS insulation board

Panel size: 1250 x 600 x 10 mm

Well insulatedThe XPS panel made of polystyrene rigid foam is a thermal insulation and impact sound insulation panel and can be used directly under the VarioComp Modular Floor Heating. Due to its good insulation properties (thermal conductivity 0.035W/mK), it reduces heat loss to the adjacent environment. It is the ideal complement between uninsulated substrates (e.g., level screed) and the VarioComp board.

Tested and certifiedThe MFPA Leipzig, the Society for Material Research, has tested and certified the impact sound insulation of the Variotherm product "XPS panel 10-200". The impact sound properties of the VarioComp Drywall Construction Floor Heating on the XPS 10-200 thermal insulation panel were examined. The measurement of the impact sound improvement was carried out in accordance with DIN EN ISO 10140.

Edge Insulation Strip

Dimensions: 75 x 10 mm

The edge insulation strip separates the floor heating in drywall construction from adjacent components and decouples the structure-borne sound.

The edge insulation strip explained brieflyWhether we walk through a room or move objects in it, we generate sound that is transmitted. This is not always pleasant for the people around us. Very sensitive areas are the transitions from the floor to the wall. With edge insulation strips, sound transmission can be reduced.

Another function of the edge insulation strip: Floors like parquet and laminate expand when heated. Tensions arise, and without a proper edge insulation strip, cracks can form. An edge insulation strip prevents this.

Where and how the edge insulation strip is installedIt is glued between the drywall construction floor heating and the wall. The insulation must be installed seamlessly and extend from the supporting substrate to the top edge of the floor covering.

The Variotherm edge insulation strip consists of PE foam. The front side is equipped with a self-adhesive, welded overlap foil. This guarantees a tight connection between the edge insulation strip and the PE construction foil. The butyl rubber applied on the back allows the insulation to be easily glued to the wall.

Simple and quick to install

The 18-millimeter thin gypsum fiberboards are laid in Drywall Construction on an even and load-bearing surface. These VarioComp boards are specially milled with studs. This allows the VarioProFile Pipe 11.6x1.5 (aluminium multi-layer composite pipe) to be laid individually. This guarantees an even pipe spacing.

The heating pipe of the VarioComp Modular Floor Heating is installed in the drywall construction system.

At the same time, the pipe is stably fixed between the knobs. The installation of the heating pipe can be done in a meander or spiral manner. Finally, the special VarioComp filling compound is poured and leveled. The floor covering can be applied after a short drying time (from around 24 hours).

Spacing and Piping

The VarioComp boards can be installed at the following pipe distances:

Pipe laying distances 100 mm or 150 mm.

Pipe laying distance 100 mmLiving room, children's room, kitchen and everywhere where you walk barefoot.

Pipe laying distance 150 mmOffices, halls, workshops, auxiliary living spaces and everywhere where we do not walk barefoot.

The VarioProFile Pipe 11.6x1.5 (aluminium multi-layer composite pipe) can be installed in a spiral or meander pattern. The maximum pipe length per heating circuit, including supply lines, is 80 m. With an installation spacing of 100 mm, 10 m/m² is required. If the heating pipe is installed at a spacing of 150 mm, 6.7 m/m² must be calculated.

Installation example

This is how the floor heating can be installed in drywall construction: Example of a single-family house where the heating pipe was continuously laid at a pipe spacing of 100 mm.

Tip: The edge zones, starting in front of large glass surfaces or glass doors, are laid with a meander pattern along the glass surfaces up to about 1 m into the room. This creates a slightly higher surface temperature in front of the glass surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

In a floor heating system in drywall construction, gypsum fiber boards with a low installation height are laid directly on the screed. The heating pipes are laid in the pre-milled knobs at an even distance and covered with a thin leveling compound. Since the heating pipes are close to the surface, the floor is quickly heated.

A floor heating system can also be installed afterwards. It is important to consider the construction height and the additional load from the heating system. The slim VarioComp with only 20 mm construction height is ideally suited for a heating renovation.

Varicose veins are not caused by heat, but by weak connective tissue and constant sitting. Modern and well-adjusted floor heating systems have a surface temperature of 22 to 29 °C. Therefore, they are harmless from a medical perspective.

Since the system operates as a low-temperature heating, flow temperatures of approximately 26 to 38 °C are sufficient (instead of up to 60 °C with radiators). Additionally, the room air temperature can be up to 2 °C lower without any loss of comfort – this saves about 6% heating costs per degree difference. Overall, savings of up to 25% in heating costs are realistic.
