Heating with respect for history

The historic ‘Keplerhaus’ in the historic centre of Regensburg - the house where the famous astronomer Johannes Kepler died - is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and an important location for science education and museum education. The exhibition in the medieval building extends over four floors, each covering around 110-125 square metres and connected by historic staircases. Kepler's life and work is brought to life in a combination of historical objects and interactive exhibition elements in several rooms.

As it was not possible to install underfloor or wall heating during the renovation and redesign for various reasons, a particularly gentle and effective solution was chosen: Variotherm skirting heating. They blend unobtrusively into the historic building fabric and ensure a pleasant indoor climate - particularly important for visitor comfort and the preservation of the valuable exhibits.

The project impressively demonstrates how modern building technology can work in listed buildings - without compromising on aesthetics, functionality or monument protection.
